Jane McCampbell is a licensed marriage and family therapist and certified EMDR therapist who received her Masters degree from Bethel Seminary in St Paul, Minnesota. She provides therapy to individuals and couples and has daytime and some limited evening hours available. Her office is centrally located in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St Paul, just east of Highway 280 on Raymond Avenue.
Therapeutic approach
Jane's approach to therapy is drawn from both systems and attachment theories, which means she pays significant attention to the family of origin of each client and their relationships with primary attachment figures. She believes that our expectations of the world and others in it are significantly impacted by our early-life experiences, and frequently observes how interactional patterns, core beliefs and anxieties are repeated through the generations and play out in our adult relationships.
Jane specializes in treating issues of developmental trauma (such as physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse inflicted during childhood), posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, insomnia and relational and sexual concerns. In addition, she frequently works with issues associated with narcissistic relationships, spirituality, spiritual abuse, cultural adjustment and career/workplace difficulties. She is certified in EMDR - a life-changing treatment for clients struggling with traumatic memories, reactivity and anxiety - and frequently uses the EMDR model to organize her therapy.
Before becoming a therapist ...
Jane is originally from London, England and has been in the U.S. since 2002. For many years she volunteered in central London at a 24-hour helpline and drop-in center for the suicidal and despairing. Therapy is her second career following 17 successful years in business, ranging from small start-ups to multi-national corporations. She still offers consulting in strategic planning, marketing and branding to businesses on an occasional basis. She is also a faculty associate in a local marriage and family therapy graduate program.
